FIRST stands for “For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Tech” and the idea is for
people who are getting ready to change the future (like you) to get interested in science, tech, and engineering so they can make the next Google, smart car, or higgs boson. You also get to meet people in the field and it looks extremely good in a college or job resume as many tech colleges would like you or require you to have taken robotics. You even get to meet people with the same interests as you.
